axis71 was born in Belgium, a country where light takes on a special significance: subtle, changing, often filtered by gray skies. From its inception, the company set itself a clear goal: to elevate lighting to the level of “haute couture.” Not just to create functional lamps, but to imagine objects with character, capable of transforming a space by giving it soul.
The name axis71 evokes both an axis—a guiding line—and the year 1971, symbolizing an era marked by creative freedom and dialogue between modernity and tradition.

A tribute to Belgian design heritage
Following a wonderful meeting between Patrick Vossen, axis71, and Johan De Smedt, Wever & Ducré, a shared passion for design and beautiful shapes, industrial and minimalist lines, emerged. This partnership was necessary given the complementary nature of the companies, and the timing was also important Given the context, namely the resurgence in demand for products from the 1960s and 1970s... Christophe brings a genuine Belgian DNA to both companies. We are only at the beginning of a wonderful adventure between these two companies, to which Christophe brings all the light
axis71 x Wever & Ducré
Under the leadership of Patrick Vossen, Axis71 and Wever & Ducré, two leading Belgian brands in the field of high-end lighting, are joining forces to put the spotlight back on the work of legendary designer Christophe Gevers. Born and raised in Antwerp, designer, interior architect, and professor at La Cambre, he may not immediately ring a bell with everyone, but his work naturally stands alongside names such as Charlotte Perriand, Jules Wabbes, and others.
Two iconic lamps, the Square and the GC01 table lamp, will be produced once again as part of this unique collaboration. Axis71 and Wever & Ducré share a passion for design where shapes and lines meet. Gevers reinforces the Belgian DNA of the brands, while they bring a new dimension to his work.
axis71 is not just a manufacturer: it is a storyteller of atmospheres.
Its lamps are not designed as isolated objects, but as luminous scenographies. They transform spaces: a bedroom becomes a cocoon, a hallway becomes majestic, a living room takes on a theatrical air.
The brand’s story continues to unfold, true to its original ambition: to illuminate life with elegance, audacity, and emotion.

And today, Axis71 continues its story.
With each new collection, the brand tells a different tale: sometimes theatrical, sometimes intimate, but always driven by the same conviction:
light is not a detail, it is the memory, the backdrop, and the emotion of a lifetime.
